Gayle had been sick earlier in the week so her days were all mixed up. When mum got home at about 2:30 she was worried because I was not barking and running to meet her. She searched all of my hiding spots; but could not find me. She started to panic, thinking that I got out when she was going out. She had just called Uncle Vic and he said he would come over and help search for me when the door opened and Gayle walked in with me!!!!!! Tee hee and LOL

For the non-Limeys out there -- Guy Fawkes was the person who tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament but was caught before he was able to. When mum was a kid over in the UK for about a month before November 5, kids used to stand at tube station entrances with a "guy" and ask for "penny for the guy" and then on the 5th they would buy fireworks and there would be celebrations with bonfires and fireworks.

Mum has a doctor's appointment and has to get ready to be picked up. She SAID she will write more tomorrow when she has time.

so, toodle pip and ta ta
Today after half an hour on the phone and being Chewy and got the order placed the order in les than 10 minutes!!!!
Although we were reading other blogs, we are upset that so many of the "old timers" do not seem to be blogging here -- for example Frankie and Ernie and Gospel of Goose (although we know that it is Buddy now and not Goose any more). Mum has been in touch with Amber da weenie's mum and for anyone who does no yet know it they have a new Puppy addition. I have seen pics of Lexie and she is really cute!!!!

Not too much doing around here lately. It has been toooooo hot for Gayle (or mum for that matter) to take me out after about noon. I have been very good at not waking me up too early. Mum has started taking her pool therapy classes (finally) and although she has only been to 1 so far, likes it. She had another appointment for tomorrow mornine -- she has already told me to make sure I wake her up in time!!!! One day last week, she went back to bed at about 4:30 and planned to get up around 6 for a doctor's appointment. She slept until 10:30!!!!!!!!! Because he had left her phone in the living room she did not get the call from the doctor or the van company!!!!! Thank goodness this doctor does not charged for missed appointments!!!!!

The day after Memorial Day Uncle Vic had to take Coco to the Vet to have a (huge) upper tooth remained. The vet is just around the corner to me so he (Uncle Vic) came over here to wait. Mum knew he was doing some updates on the laptop, but was not too concerned because years ago when they lived together, after many arguments, she had gotten him to not change too many basic things (such as the icons on the desktop). Well, obviously he forgot all of this and made quite a few changes -- one of which was doing something so that mum was unable to figure out how to post on my blog!!!!!!! Finally, after some help from Amber the weenie's mom and my mum working on it, she FINALLY was able to access this blog!!!!! That is really the reason why mum did not blog -- but this morning for some reason she was able to post.

Mum is telling me we have to get off here 'cos she has things to get done and also 'cos her typing is getting REALLY bad!!!!!! I promise I well not have such a biiiiiig break before my next blog.

Incidentally, for those if you who have read mum's anecdotes from her days yore, please let us know. I you really do not want to read of her childhood in (post WWII) London, let me know and I will make sure she doesn't make any more of them

Well, ttfn and toodle pip

Uncle Vic, Coco and her kitties (Cubby and Kiki) have come over to spend the day because there apartment has the exterminators and they are replacing the carpet with laminate!!!! The kitties are still in their carriers cause otherwise we will never get them back in -- they will hide and we wont be able to find them!!!!! Uncle Vic is sitting in the older reclining and because he is watching what HE wants, mum decided to pay bills and visit her bloggy friends!!!!

Anyway, a few things have happened -- a couple of weeks ago I had the sickies -- I threw up in the apartment several times and also tried to poop, but couldn't. Anyway, when gayle came over, she made me chickn and rice, an so I got over it quite quickly. I REALLY like Gayle -- When she comes over, she always takes for a walk and yesterday she took me to our rebuilt dog park. Mum cannot take me there because there is a big curb and mum has spoken with management -- they are trying to get the builders to come back and put a ramp.

the weather her is really nice -- it is cool in the morning when mum takes me out and then warms up but she has not really had to turn the a/c on much.

Well, nothing really exciting ha happened -- hopefully I will be able o make mum write some more of her memories from her childhood when growing up in London.

Untill next time:
On Sunday morning when we went out for my walkies, Mum insists she put her cellphone in her pants pocket. However, when we got back home, she could not find it!!! I was VERY annoyed with her!! Anyway that afternoon she went to Verizon to get a new one -- of course, I could not go -- again because it was getting quite hot out!! It took ages to get the phone and have it setup. She got a new iPhone -- but this time he did not get ANY freebies with it (last time she got a case, screen cover and stylus as gifts). The salesman offered her the case and screen protector at a charge of $49 and $39, respectively. She very nicely told him "thanks but no thanks". On the way home she stopped in at this meat/deli store and bought me 10 frozen marrow bones (which they cut specially for me, after mum told them what a good doggie I am (ROFLMAO).
Anyway. all of her phone numbers transferred over, but none of the photos!!! Guess she will have to take more pics of us all.

Yesterday (Monday) mum went to see the Bariatric Doctor who did her gastric bypass just over a year ago (on April 4 last year), and was very happy when he told her she had lost just of 6 lbs since her last visit (late January).

Oh, mum was gonna miss telling you -- but the reason she wont take me out when it gets hot (except for my walkies early in the morning) is because my leg hurts somewhat from my Valley Fever. She has not been able to take me to the Vet because it will cost over $400!!!!!! I also want to remind all my buddies here that my GoFundMe page is still up.

Well, mum has some other stuff to do, so has told me that his is all I can write for now.
Her Oldest sister who lived in Seattle had been in the hospital. She had some surgery and then apparently had a major heart attack. Mum had only been told that Ros was having some "minor" surgery. (The reasoning for this goes way way back to when they were kids and because of mum's "hole in the heart" situation, the family were told to treat her "with kid gloves" basically, so she was always the last to find out about most things -- a long story which I may be able to get her to tell you all about some other time.) Anyway, Ros had open heart surgery this past Tuesday and things appeared to be going along ok -- or as ok as possible for an 80 year old with iffy health. Mum forgot that her other sister, Dianne, was having cataract surgery on Thursday, and when she had not heard from Dianne by Friday afternoon, she called her. At that point all seemed well. Dianne was recovering from her cataract surgery ok, but mum and she got into an argument over things that had happened years ago -- another long story for another time. Anyway, thing seemed to be going ok until Saturday afternoon when Dianne called to sa that Ros had died. Now, mum is upset because she does not know how to find the money to get to Seattle!!!! Mum got online and checked out airlines and if she flies from Phoenix to Seattle it is about $400 less. There is a shuttle from Tucson to Phoenix, but it will be a hassle. She also has to find out if he can take me with and what papers, etc. she will need for me. I will also mention that mum had tummy troubles on Friday and Saturday morning. Fortunately (for me, anyway) on Friday she started after she had taken me out to do my biznez but Saturday it started earlier, and so she could not take me out. She also forgot to feed me till about 3 pm!!!!!! She told me I was a very good girl cos I did not have an accident in the house. Oh, and I should mention that on Friday we met my "good Samaritan" who helped out when I had my little "incident" a couple of weeks ago. Mum was talking to him while he was eating a really good smelling samwich that I was eagerly sniffing and they were both ignoring!!! But to get back to mum -- needless to say me and the kitties have been giving mum lots of hugs and kisses to make her feel better. I am trying to convince her to put up a GoFundMe page to see if we can get some help. She would be flying out on Tuesday and coming back either Thursday evening or Friday. She will meet Dianne in seattle and Dianne had hotel points for the Marriott and mum will take some of her special shakes etc with her.

I want to go and give her more hugs and kisses so I am gonna end now -- will talk more later.

I think we left off while I was in the British Military Hospital in Paris. Anyway, the staff in the hospital were really nice to me. Also, one of my brother's came over to visit me. I found out later that my dad had started to get concerned because he had not heard from me. I usually met him for lunch on Monday's because he was working around the corner to my office. The first Monday after I was due home, he just figured I was busy at work, but the second week he got concerned. At the time I was living near my brother Cyril so my dad called Cyril's office and was told that he had made an unexpected trip to Paris. Dad then got even more concerned and called Cyril's wife, who then told him that I was in the hospital in Paris. Of course Dad got really concerned and also annoyed that they had not told him sooner what had happened!!! So I had a really nice visit with Cyril, who told me that on the Saturday when I was supposed to arrive by plane from Paris, he had gone to the airport and was then made aware of what happened -- needless to say Cyril (and my dad when he found out) were really annoyed and upset that the group had left me in Paris basically on my own!!! I then started getting letters and cards from friends, etc., in England. Also, the brother of a friend of my sister's also came to visit me. Actually, when he got there, it was rather funny because I heard someone mention "Rosalind Black" and knew who it was. For some reason, Harvey always called me by my oldest sister's name -- and sure enough, it was him!!

When the time came for me to return to England, I was not allowed to go by plane because I was not allowed to be in an upright position for too long. So I was going by boat ferry overnight and my sister in law Margaret came over for the day to travel back with me. There were a couple of amusing incidents that happened on that trip. First, I had a British army escort to the train, which did cause quite a commotion. For some reason or other, I did not have shoes, but did have socks on. The porter wanted to have my escort lift me through the train window!!! I put a stop to that and insisted that I could manage to walk the short distance to the train!!! The trip itself was quite uneventful, but VERY bumpy when the train was going on and off the ferry. I was confined to bed so I got quite restless. Margaret quite enjoyed the trip!!! She had also done some sightseeing, etc., in Paris!!!! When we got to London, we were left on the train for quite some time. Apparently the ambulance that had been scheduled to pick me up at the station had got the days mixed up because of my travelling overnight!!!! My dad was quite used to dealing with officialdom and getting his own way (another long story for another time), and he had talked his way onto the platform to chat with me. This was actually supposed to be taboo because the fact that I was still on the train, meant that they could not clear it through customs. Consequently, the train was running quite late for the outward bound trip. Railway officials asked if I would mind waiting in the First Aid station until the ambulance arrived. I said that would be fine -- what I did not realize was that they were going to take me over there on a stretcher!!! This was a warm Sunday morning in September at Victoria Station. My dad and Margaret walked about 10 paces behind me; I was flat on my back staring at the ceiling (everywhere but at the crowds) and the porter was yelling "MIND YER BACKS" every few minutes. So, of course, everyone was looking a me and wondering what had happened to me. Finally the ambulance arrived, but they had sent one with only 1 ambulance attendance -- so they put me in a wheelchair to get into the ambulance. When we got to the hospital, again they put me in a wheelchair (one of those old wooden "bath chairs" that can be seen on old English movies, etc.). I was very uncomfortable and finally collared a nurse and quite loudly complained about the fact that I had had to travel overnight because I had to lie flat, and was now being made to sit up, which was VERY uncomfortable. The hastened to get me a stretcher before I made too much of a fuss. I finally got up to the ward and, again, was made to sit up in bed. Turns out it was because I had peritonitis and that was the normal part of treatment. Also, English hospitals did not have electric beds and the contraption to sit me up was very complicated and the patient could not adjust it!!! Very uncomfortable!!!!! I am not sure if I mentioned it, but the food at the British Military hospital was like a four start French restaurant -- so, of course, the first meal I had in the London Hospital seemed even worse than it usually did. It came around on a steam table and was tasteless and overcooked. On Monday, my surgeon was making his rounds. You only saw your "specialist"/surgeon once or twice a week and he came with a whole entourage -- Him with Matron, Sister from the ward, head nurse, Resident, Intern and (because it was a teaching hospital) several medical students. You only spoke to your specialist when he spoke to you and usually the answer was "yes" or "no" answers. I was still recuperating from the journey, so when he asked how I was, I said I was still very tired from the trip over. He commented that there were better ways of coming from Paris. At this point, I didn't care what I said, and answered, "Yes, but I had to travel by train because I was not allowed to sit up for that long and I get here and am made to sit up!!!" Well, after everyone picked their jaws up from the floor (because no one EVER responded to the specialist like that), he had the decency to look a little flustered and turned to Matron and said that if I was more comfortable, I could be allowed to lie down!!!! There were a few other little incidents like that along the way. For instance, I name has the French spelling, and one of the doctors who came around (and there were many, many many doctors who came around) was discussing my case right in front of me (which is something that is also NEVER) done, and made the comment to the other doctor he was with that he wondered if I spoke English. I again responded that yes I did speak English because I was from London!!! Also, because it was a teaching hospital, a medical student was assigned to work up my medical history. A male student with a female patient had to have a chaperone (!!) and had to do the workup around everything else going on, so it took quite some time. When he thought he was finished, he quite casually asked me if I ever got breathless. When I said that I did he asked what I attributed that to I replied "to the hole in my heart of course". Both of their jaws dropped because now they had to go into that history!!!

English hospitals at that time did not have the luxuries that US hospitals did (no phones or TV's) but the nursing care was superb and there were lots of little extras -- such as a cup of tea first thing in the morning (before breakfast, of course) and backrubs at night!!

I finally had my surgery and was in the hospital a couple of weeks afterwards, then I went to a convalescent home for 3 weeks. If I went into all the little things that happened (funny and not so) this would run on for pages and pages. Suffice it to say that at the end of it all, I had gone ona 2 week holiday and ended up being gone for 3 months!!!! I had not been working at this firm for long so I was lucky that they kept the job open for me!!!

Well, I hope I haven't bored you too much -- I will now let Cookie have her blog back.

We had gone over to Vic's on Sunday afternoon and I did not go for my phone for some time after we got home. Vic was having problems with his internet so I could not get hold of him. So on Monday morning we went over there. Sure enough the phone was there. We decided to go home at about 9:30 am. As we were walking home, Cookie was walking slower and slower. (Remember her leash is attached to my wheelchair). Anyway, we had just turned into the driveway to our complex when all of a sudden, it felt like I was dragging a 10 ton weight!!! I looked down and Cookie was on her back on the ground panting away and drooling like crazy. One of the men who was working on a bulldozer came over and gave her some water, but she still would not get up. The young man was really great and when I asked him if he could carry her in to my apartment, he lifted her as though she was a puppy!!!! It took a while (with me watching her practically every second) but she finally stopped with the panting and got up and took a long drink of water. As you can imagine, I was really upset over all this. My back was already giving me problems but after this little "adventure" it REALLY started hurting. It happened that I had an appointment with my Primary doctor, and he recommended that I go to a pain center-- like me, he does not want me to get really addicted to pain meds!!!!

Well after relaxing, taking Gabapentin and my pain meds, the pain has eased up somewhat. Hopefully I will continue my "adventure" in Paris tomorrow!!!
I am going to pass the puter over to her -- let it rip mum:

Cookie's mum here-- OK you are forgiven for your comment about my age -- this particular memory is from when I was 17. I belonged to a Zionist youth organization -- Habonim (which means The Builders). I had gone on my second hiking/camping holiday to France and was having a pretty good time (aside from my tent flooding one night when in rained very heavily and some other minor problems). Anyway, a couple of days before we were due to leave Brittany, one of the boys in the group tripped over a guy wire to a tent and dislocated his knee. At the same time, I stood up and felt something in my right groin "rip" (I should mention that I had had a right groin hernia repair when I was about 5 or 6, so didn't think it could be that.) Anyway, because of the two incidents, the camp leader (Henry) called in a local doctor. It was kinda amusing/embarrassing for me. You have to remember that this was in 1959 and a "coed" camp was considered quite "forward" and it was assumed that we were sleeping coed too!!!! Anyway, when the doctor came, he realized that we were a group of Jewish kids and he "confided" in me that he was Jewish too, but given that it was not too long after WWII, no one in the village knew -- Apparently that was common in the small towns in France and most of Europe at that time still. But that was not the funny/embarrassing part -- because of the pains I was having he started asking questions. (I did not realize it at the time but I had the symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy.) First of all he asked how many times I had been pregnant -- I answered "none". Then he asked me about having intercourse -- when I again answered "none" and he looked amaze and asked if I was sure!!! Again you have to remember this was in 1957 -- France was far more free and easy than England, but still...... Anyway because of Melvin's dislocate knee, it was decided to take both of us to the local hospital. The "ambulance" was a converted Citroen with barely enough room in the back. I ended up sitting (or rather lying) on Henry's lap and he was holding on to Melvin's leg to make sure it would not be jolted around. This turned out to be a wise decision on his part!!! We were up in the mountains and the road twisted and turned and I swear the driver was a drunken/frustrated race car driver!!!!! Anyway we got to the hospital ok. When we got there, I was "examined" by several (I presume) doctors who poked and prodded me until I threw up. Henry was translating for me. Anyway they decided to keep me in the hospital. While we were in the elevator going up -- the person who was with us started asking Henry if they knew what was wrong. I looked at Henry and told him that if this guy even considered touching me I would scream bloody murder!!!! Of course Henry translated a little bit differently! I was taken to a ward with 3 other women -- I assumed it was an ob/gyn ward, but because no one spoke English and I did not speak that much French, I had no way of making sure! There were no curtains, and turned out that the bedpans were on the bedside tables and the women used them and put them back and eventually they would be emptied. The following morning, as I customary in Europe, the doctor came around with his entourage of Matron, Sisters (this happened to be a catholic hospital) and nurses. When they came to me -- again remember there were no curtains or screens -- the doctor started to do an internal exam and they realized I had a tampon (I was close to the end of my period). Matron very disgustedly pulled it out and threw it away. There was a bit of conversation between them which I did not understand!!!! I made sure that they knew that I had a congenital hole in my heart cos I knew that if I had anything serious I needed antibiotics. The entourage finally left. Shortly after two nurses brought up my rucksack which had been delivered to the hospital. A couple of hours later, they told me to get dressed and come with them. My rucksack was not too heavy, but I was still kinda weak and had not really eaten anything, but I had to carry my rucksack down by myself. They took me to the Hospital administrator's office -- apparently someone from the camp was coming to escort me (and Melvin) to Paris. While waiting for Ezra, the administrator brought his teenage son,, who was learning English in school into supposedly help interpret. Well, between his high school English and my high school French, we did not get far!!! Finally, Ezra showed up. Long and short, they gave us some lunch (which I promptly threw up) and we finally made it to the train. When we got there and the French porter realized that I could not really walk (I did not have shoes, just some heavy socks) he wanted to carry me to the compartment. Ezra finally convinced the porter that was not necessary and we got settled on the train.

I don't remember how long the train trip was, but I was VERY glad when we finally reached Paris. We were staying at a youth hostel. That night we all went to the Folies Begere. About halfway through I was starting to feel really ill. There was another couple who were going back to the hostel early and I went with them. I had a very rough night and the following morning it was decided to take me to the British Military Hospital. Henry came with me again. To cut a long story shorter I passed out when I was having x-rays done so they decided to keep me in. It was nice to hear English being spoken again. The ward I was in was much nicer than the French hospital. I also discovered that the food was excellent and was like a French restaurant!!!! Anyway the doctor was a Major in the british army and one day when he came around he sent everyone out of the room and started asking me the same questions the French doctor asked me about pregnancy, etc -- but he had the decency to be embarrassed about it and at the end more or let let out a sigh that my answers were all negative. I ended up being there 3 weeks and they did some exploratory surgery (I think they expected to have to do a D and C). At the end of this they told me that right ovary had twisted and ruptured and was putting pressure on my bowels and bladder. They wrote to the hospital in the UK and they could not get me back soon enough. Turns out when I had had some tests there a year earlier but because I was a single girl of 16 they would not do anything, but "wait and "see!! I was getting injections of major doses of antibiotics too. Melvin had been able to fly home, but I was unable to so I was stuck there. The rest of the camp had gone back to London leaving me on my own. The almoner came up a couple of time to ask about insurance and payment. I was writing to Ezra and finally insisted they send the insurance info to the hospital. I got a chatty letter from him and in the midst of it he casually mentioned that because I had not been "injured" by something at the camp I was not covered!!!! I was really upset and crying my eyes out. When the Major came in, he asked why I was so upset, and I told him. Again, he sent everyone out of the room and told me not to worry because there was a fund for UK citizens like me and that I should ignore any monetary demands from the hospital. WHEW what a relief.

As I said I was there for 3 weeks and then transferred to London for surgery. I will tell the rest of the story in a day or two.
She has woken me up and gotten me off my nice comfy recliner so that we can post here!!! I tried to tell her I was too tired but it did not seem to bother her. This leads into the story of our excitement (not) on my Sunday morning walk. I may have mentioned that they have dug up my doggy park here so we have to think of some other way for me to do my business. On Saturday morning walking alongside the wash was fine. Mum thought that the path on the other side of the wash looked a little better, so sunday that was where we went. Everything was fine and I did my business so she made a U-turn and guess what? The chair got stuck in the stones which were bigger than the other part of the path. Mum absolutely could not get the chair moving, and she realized that she did not have her phone with her!!!! I should mention here that there was a fence with lots of houses on one side of us and apartments across from us!!!! So mum started yelling "HELP". This went on for about 15 minutes until finally someone came. She had a phone so she called 911 and waited with me till the fire truck arrive with 3 hefty firemen!!! They got the chair unstuck and followed us along a better part of the path so make sure we did not get stuck again before we reached a pavement!!!! So, a walk that should have taken about 10-15 minutes took over an hour -- needless to say we will not go along there. We finally got home around 9-15 and the newspaper had not been delivered. She called the number we have and the mechanical milly took the info and said the paper would be delivered. It did not arrive till around noon! Mum gave me a Frosty Paws for being such a good girl during all this!!!

On another subject, I may have mentioned that when mum was in the hospital last year and I went to with Jen (another long story which I may repeat some time), she took my Service Dog vest (among other things) and although mum begged her to return that plus the other stuff and she always had an excuse why she could not make it. Mum was on the phone with one of her nieces in England that she had not spoken to in some time. While they were catching up mum mentioned about the cost of replacing the vest and Debbie asked mum for her address and said she would send the money so she could get me a new one!!!! At least SOMETHING nice came out of!!!!

As I mentioned is now 2:45 am and I am going back to sleep !!!!!
Yesterday he called her (and woke her up) at 5 am because his internet had been shut off cos he had a past due amount. Mum was finally able to do it by phone (why he could not do it by phone -- he was able to call mum) and got the amount paid.
today he just called cos he could not use his e-mail to contact someone, and he wanted her to look it up. He really did not have enuf info for her to do it, and so he started yelling and calling her names -- she ended up hanging up on him!!!!!!! She has not had enuf caffeine today cos her Keurig was not working properly -- it seems to work for a couple of weeks and then *kaput*. She spent about a half hour with Keurig and had to stand to do what the rep told her, so her back was really hurting -- so were her hands cos of what they wanted her to do! It finally started working again -- hope she doesn't have any more problems with it!!!!! Can our blogger buddies end her some good wishes so she feels better about things?????? When she went to take me out this morning the door from t he hallway to the outside was jammed!!!! We had to walk all the way to the end of the building to get out (and back in). Also, my doggy park is not accessible right now!!!! They are putting a Verizon cell tower in and so they are taking up some parking spaces!!!! In order to replace these parking spots they are moving the dog park!!!! I don't envy the people who are digging up the dog park cos it probably smells to high heaven because of all the pee mails and poops there!! LOL Anyway, mum called the office and they said that it would take a couple of weeks before it will be available for my use!!!! Mum told the office that (as they know) mum is not able to pick up my poops so hopefully there will not be complaints about it!!! When she was out yesterday she noticed a couple of areas that I might be able to use -- hope I find some interesting pee mails there!!!

So, as you can see, I need lots of luv from all my buddies for my mum!!!
If Frankie and Ernie were still running their law office efficiently (!) this would be a perfect case for them. Amber and Max's mum and my mum were on the phone the other evening when their mum got home from work and in the background we could hear Max howling and barking. Turns out it was waaaaaaay past their dinner time, and their mum and my mum were too busy yakking it up for them to get their dinner. Thank Dog my mum feeds me in the morning when we get home from my walk. Although yesterday I did not get my walk!!!!! It was raining allllll day, and mum has to be careful about getting the joystick on her wheelchair (plus other parts of it) wet and also she I afraid of melting in the rain -- LOL

On Wednesday Luna finally had her stitches out and so no longer has to wear her cone of shame. She is one very happy kitty without the cone. However, when mum got off the van coming home, it was raining quite hard, so she was not very happy about that!!! I did get a walk and a bit of a run in the dog park here this morning, but it was in between rain showers, and although mum had promised me another walk, we couldn't go 'cos of the rain the rest of the day!!!!
Well, mum has told me this is as long a post as we are gonna do today, so
Luna still has her cone on and is not very happy about it. She is having her stitch out this week. Mum said she is going to call and see if she can take the cone off!

Mum got me some Frost Paws -- yum!!! She will give me one if I have been really good -- but usually when she goes out and leaves me to take care of the kitties!! Discovered we have new neighbors across the hall -- They are Mormon missionaries an move every 6 months or so. First time since I have lived here (just over a year) that we have males!!!! My next door neighbors are also moving within the next week or so. Mum and I are not very happy about that!!! Not too happy about the location they are going to -- also they are moving to a third floor apt with no lift!!! She has been practicing going up and down stairs -- we wish her good luck!!!! The last apartment mum had before moving from Cleveland Ohio was a third floor walkup. She was quite a bit younger and not handicapped, but was REALLY glad when she moved out of there!!

Our upstairs neighbors are also sposed to be moving. They are the ones who bang on the floor whenever I bark when mum takes me out early in the morning. Mum has also received 3 letters from Animal Control about my barking. The leasing manager is really POd at THEM, not at me or mum!!
*Sigh* Oh well, he trials and tribulations of living on the ground floor in an apartment building!!
No pics today -- hopefsully next time.

Anyhoo this past couple of weeks have been kinda hectic for mum -- between her doctor's appointments and getting Sapphire and Luna spayed. They were both s'posed to have been spayed at the same time last week, but the carrier mum put Luna in disintegrated twice and after the second time she hid and mum couldn't find her so she just took in Sapphire. It was a veerry loooong day for mum. The van picked her up around 5:45 am and did not get her home til almost 3 pm. The place where she took her was about 15 miles from here, and there were several other people that the van picked up and dropped off. Mum had not slept well cos she was afraid of oversleeping!!! Anyway, when she go there, she had to wait out in the cold for a while -- that is a major problem when using the paratransit -- if she doesn't arrange for the van to get her there early, then she can get there late. Also, they can make her wait (they give her a 30 minute pickup window) but if she is late, they will leave without her (although this past Monday morning, she overslept and was woken up by the telephone with her "courtesy call" -- which is 5 minutes before pickup -- she then had to rush around to get dressed and out in time -- but she got out there in time. Of course I did not get my walk or get fed -- she had just enuf time to give me a marrow bone treat) Anyway, the place where the kitties got spayed is a non-profit and gets grants for people who are on fixed incomes like mum. They agreed that Luna would still come under the graft when she came in yesterday, thank goodness. Mum had taken stuff to keep her occupied, but it was still a long day. She was able to go to McDomald's for breakfast while waiting. Sapphire was wearing a cone of shame when mum brought her home so she could not manage to eat from her regular bowl so mum put some in a small bowl and held it inside the cone for her!!! Same thing for water. This week, Luna managed to slip out of the cone in the carrier on the way home and again this morning!!!!!! However, she has managed to eat from the regular cat food bowl. They told mum that Luna had to have a couple of stitches, so she has to wear the cone longer and come in again in two weeks!!!!!! Mum is not looking forward to ANOTHER trip there!! At least sapphy is not yowling or meowing any more -- when she was in heat it was horrendous and also, mum said that she made a racked while on the van -- in BOTH directions!! Fortunately the other passengers did not mind. Turns out that Luna was in heat when mum took her in!!!! But mum said she did not make a peep while on the van!! Sapphy isn't making any noise now, which is a great relief.

Our "darling" (NOT) upstairs neighbors have really been banging on the floor (our ceiling) in the mornings when I bark from excitement when mum is getting ready to go out. Out of courtesy to them she has been trying to take me out later; however, she has received TWO notices from Animal Control that they have received complaints about my barking. Everyone around us has been woken up by their noise, and mum is afraid that the light fixtures will fall -- we already have had to have smoke detectors replaced because of the vibrations!!!! Mum saw the leasing manager the other day and he told her that the upstairs monsters are being kicked out!!!! Apparently everyone has been complaining that THEY are making so much noise that they are waking everyone up -- no one except them have complained about me. I should mention that the only tmes I bark is in the morning when mum is getting ready to take me out and (as I am s'posed to) when anyone comes to the door!!!! ****Sigh*****

Mum does not have such a hectic week next week so hopefully we will be able to get some pics taken and posted.
We had a little bit of excitement (not!!) here the other morning. I think we mentioned how our upstairs neighbor bangs on her floor (our ceiling) when I bark as mum is getting ready to take me out in the morning. Well, on Tuesday morning, they banged so hard we thought the ceiling was going to come down. Next thing we knew, as mum was opening the front door, there was yelling and screaming in the hallway. It was our upstairs neighbors yelling and screaming at mum about my barking. Now, you have to realize that these women must each weigh double what mum does, and she's no lightweight (sorry mum -- not) and it turns out they are the people who have the new truck that mum very nicely asked a couple of weeks ago to please be sure to leave her room to get the wheelchair through. When they finished yelling a screaing and using HBO words at mum they slammed the door from the hallway so hard it could not be opened!!!! Some other neighbors a couple of apartments down had heard the ruckus and come out and I went to talk to them. Mum's and my knees were still shaking about it all!!!! This couple also told us that they had been told that I attacked a lot of other dogs here. Mum immediately knew who was spreading that rumor!!! There is a woman here with a little dog that had lived in the complex mum and I lived in for a couple of months last year. I had gotten out once and chased a few small dogs but did not injure anyone. Every time we see this woman, if she has her dog she picks it up and walks in the opposite direction; if mum sees her when she does NOT have her dog, she STILL walks in the opposite direction!!!!! Anyway, when the leasing office here opened, mum called and spoke to the manager. He was extremely nice and said that he would look into it. Fortunately, he did not make any disparaging comments about me!!! Mum also heard from our next door neighbor that a LOT of other people (and not just from our hallway) had also heard these women yelling at mum and had contacted the office!!!! This morning there was just a small banging on the ceiling when mum was getting ready to take me out. Mum has threatened to put a muzzle on me when she is getting ready so that I wont bark. I am not very happy about that!!!

Anyway, mum has been watching some programs about the Battle of Britain, etc., and I have gotten on her case (again) that she needs to write some of her memories of that time in the UK. She said that he will tomorrow.
Mum has said that she does not really wanna do any more typing tonight so ......
BTW, Cookie, thanks for letting me sleep later the last couple of mornings. Things have not been toooo great lately. One nice thing is that I now have ANOTHER kitty sister -- Sapphire. She looks like a Russian Blue. She need to be spayed (as does Luna) and so the two of them walk around yowling!!!!

Also mum has been sick a couple of weeks ago. She had to have another Botox injection in her bladder and then about a week later she started a really bad UTI. Unfortunately she forgot that about 20 odd years ago she had a bad reaction to sulfa drugs, and they gave her an antibiotic with Sulfa!!! Fortunately she final did remember and told the doc's office so the stopped her taking it and now she is feeling better.
I still have a bit of a limp because of my valley fever tumor in my leg, but it is not too bad. It is still too hot for mum to take me too far during the day, but it is nice and cool when she takes me out in the mornings.
GOT MUM TO OPEN PCMum has been feeling kinda stressed lately and although I have gotten her to read all the other posts, I have not been able to get her to sit and write in my blog instead of watching TV. A lot of the stress has been because she overdrew her bank account AGAIN!!!!! She went to the bank the other day and got them to remove some of the overdraft fees -- She had been charged $34 for a charge of $10 and another for a charge of $15!!!!! I was not with her (too hot for my poor little paws!!) but she dealt with the bank manager and she said that he was really nice an understanding. She still does not have any money til the 3rd of next month, but it will help that she doesn't have such an overdraft. She said she was s'posed to go over to Uncle Vic's yesterday -- again she said it would be too hot to take me!!!! But she ended up not going because he called and said he had bedbugs again!!!!! Mum did not want to chance picking up any again -- she said after all the problems she had getting rid of them (the most pressing of her stressors) she did not want to chance getting them again. Needless to say, he was not very happy about it (she was going over cos the tech from the wheelchair place was coming over to see what was wrong twith her old wheelchair that Uncle Vic wanted to use).

We are in the middle of our monsoon season here in Tucson, so I have been spending a lot of time in the bathtub and closet!!!!When I am hiding in the bathtub and mum comes in to use the bathroom, I get lots of scritches!!!! Yesterday I made a couple of poops and a pee in the living room cos we had a really bad storm!!! Our patio got flooded the rain was so heavy!!!

Mum asked me to remind my buddies that our GoFundMe page is still active (she hopes) cos, as I have mentioned on other occasions) we are in need of money for my med and vet visits. Also, my kitty sista Luna needs to get fixed!!!! she seems to go into heat very often and makes the most awful noises when she does.

Well, nothing exciting has been going on here except for the storms!!! As I said, the time that mum does go out, it has been too hot for me (except when I go out to do my bidness early in the morning). so I guess we will end now. I will try to get mum to post more often, and also go figure out how to post pics again
Mum takes me out before it gets too hot then I stay in air conditioned apartment for the rest of the day!! But when I do go to the doggy park we have here, I find los of good pee mails.

BTW, it has come to our attention that word has gone around that mum goes for coffee and a muffin almost every day. That has not happened for several years -- since mum took Cody (who has been at the rainbow bridge for almost 3 yrs now), Rajah and Sandra asnd her pup out for coffee after going to Udall Park. Human brother and wife sent mum an e-card for Starbucks for her birthday, but we have no Starbucks close by so she does not go there very often!!! She makes coffee at home and when she goes out during the day because it is so hat she takes flavored water with her!!!! So, if you have not been donating to my GoFundMe page cos you think she has money to spare, I want to assure you that she doesn't because of all the moves, etc. and being in hospital fo so long!! She has not been able to take me o the vet, even tho I am limping from my Valley Fever, cos of lack of money; also, Luna needs to be spayed cos she keeps going into heat, but, again cos of lack of money, she cannot afford it!!

Mum has to go to have some minor surgery on her eyelid tomorrow -- our neighbor Jessie is going with her. Wish her luck
Some of you may remember that that is where mum met Jack and Tall Guy and she used to take Cody there all the time, but me not as much cos when I came along, her apartment complex had a nice doggy park where she used to take me. Anyway, this mornings newspaper had a biiiiig article about the fact that there has been an outbreak of lepti (whatever it is called, but it is VERY contagious for dogs and human) there and recommending not going there. Usually when they have a contagious outbreak they will close the park and fumigate it. But for any Tucson pupsters whose humans have not read the article, PLEASE stay away from Udall Park. We do not go there since moving to this apartment, and I like my new doggy park -- I have found lots of pee mails there. I just hope that this disease does not move here.
I will admit tho that she has been enduring lots and lots of stress (which is her excuse for not posting). Finally, the apartment has been cleaned up. She had to borrow our next door neighbor's vacuum cleaner 'cos ours went missing somewhere between moves to and from storage; so did the shelves and glass doors from our china cabinet. Mum also realized that a plastic bag that had some large items (comforters and terry cloth robes, etc) musta been put in the new storage cabinet. One of the people that put the stuff in storage in December wants to come over on Wednesday to look in our new storage. Mum doesn't want her to go on her own, and the temp is gonna be in the 100's this week, so she is gonna cancel (mum, that is).

By the way -- we forgot to tell you in the last post -- we have a new kitty, Luna. Uncle Vic found her for us. She is really cute, but has not been fixed and last week she was in heat. She made the most atrocious sounds all the time. It took mum a couple of days to realize what it was!!!! Before she went into heat she used to hide and only come out occasionally. Now, she has been coming out much more often. Actually, she has been kinda funny because she keeps sticking her tush into my face!!!! Now that she is no longer in heat, she is not doing it as much!!! She and Tigger are getting more friendly, too. As soon as mum figures out (again!!) how to post a picture here, she will send one of Luna.

Mum is going to the Balance Clinic tomorrow. They were sposed to call her to set up the appointments, but never did. Mum was gonna let it go cos she was feeling much better but then had a mild dizzy spell last week, so decided she better go!!!

Otherwise, not much has been happening. Mum and I are really glad that the apartment is pretty much organized -- just a few things need to be done, but mum did a little bit yesterday and now she is hurting, so she has to wait for that to pass before doing any more.

I really should be going to the vet, but mum cannot afford it -- so if anyone wants to donate to my GoFundMe, it would be really appreciated.

Well, I will keep on mum's 'tail' so that she doesn't go so long without posting again!!!

Hope I can remember all the news. Mum had her surgery on April 4 and although she says it was much more painful than she expected, the doc said it went very well. Some of the pain meds they gave her made her quite loopy and confused -- in fact, someone from the clinic at the hospital called her this morning and said she had med mum at the hospital!!!!!!! mum doesn't remember her AT ALL!!!! Also, Uncle Vic came to visit and she was so out of it he got quite concerned and called the doctor, who clarified that I would be ok!!! I was staying with Jennifer at this point and she brought me to see mum at the hospital. I was extremely glad to see she was ok and let her know with wet nose kisses.

Mum was at the hospital for a week then went back to the rehab center for another week and then finally came home. Jennifer brought me home the following day. Although Jen promised to come over to help finish with the unpacking, etc. she never showed up (she was sposed to come today but has not shown up!!!!!) Also, she cleared out part of the living room, but had put all the stuff from there in the bedroom so that in order to get to the bed and bathroom, mum had to climb over stuff. Even hanging on to furniture she still lost her balance a couple of times!!!!!!!

She finally got hold of someone to helpg her out, but it is costing an awful lot (which she cannot really afford). She just reminded me that my GoFundMe page should still be up, so if anyone wants to contribute towards her and my expenses ....... (we still have major med for my Valley Fever).

Mum is recuperating quite well. She went to see the surgeon the other day and he was really pleased that mum lost over 20 lbs since the surgery. The surgeon and mum joke that if anything can go wrong during a procedure, it will happen to me. Fortunately, this time nothing was other than he expected. He is all the way over the other side of Tucson, but at this time, he is the only surgeon for that type of stuff that mum will trust!!!!!

We are still trying to catch up with all the blogs, but it is taking time!!!! Mum's hands are bothering her too so she does not want to do too much typing (which, she says is the reason it has taken so long to catch up here).

So, without any further ado, we will close now
